Why your business needs a cyber security apprentice
For employers, cyber security apprenticeships offer a cost-effective method of growing or upskilling teams.
According to research from Ipsos MORI, around 50% of businesses in the UK have a skills gap in essential cyber skills. Furthermore, 68% of organisations struggled to recruit suitable cyber security employees over the last three years.
Apprentices can help to fill this gap. Habib explains:
“The main benefits for employers are that there are no limits to their staff developing themselves. If, for example, a school leaver joins as an apprentice, you can mould them to what you want or need them to be in terms of how you want them to work and learn.
“If you are employing an apprentice for the first time you can see for yourself how an individual grows into the experienced person you are looking for to join the workplace.”
Apprenticeships can also be used to upskill existing staff, boosting the skills in your workforce and creating a learning culture.
Incentive payments
Hiring apprentices offer a number of benefits to your organisation, and businesses can take advantage of the Government’s incentive scheme to receive a financial bonus.
The scheme means that your organisation could receive up to £4,000 for new apprentices until 30 September 2021. Find out more about incentive payments.
