There are many pathways to start your career – our traineeships and apprenticeships will build your confidence, increase your independence and provide those key skills, experience and qualifications that employers are looking for with support and guidance provided from the day you contact us.

Skills Start Traineeships (16-19)

Traineeships are for anyone aged 16-19, and are a stepping stone to an apprenticeship or job. They combine practical, hands-on experience with education and training. Learn from experienced mentors and see your skills, and confidence, improve.

Traineeships are available for a wide variety of careers and include a £40 per week training allowance, our skilled staff will provide information, advice and guidance on your options.

Apprenticeships (16+)

Apprenticeships are for anyone aged 16+ and provide you with high quality practical training from expert mentors.

They last from 12-32 months depending on the career path and level.

Hair and Beauty Diplomas (19+)

Our hair and beauty diplomas are taught in small, friendly classes in a number of locations in England.

They are supported by an Advanced Learner Loan and much like a loan for university – you don’t have to pay anything back until you are earning the minimum threshold.

Shaw Trust Academies (18+)

The Shaw Trust Academies are here to support you into employment through training and skills programmes.

Support you receive is based on your needs with clear pathways of progression and can include work experience, training, support for your wellbeing and progression opportunities.

Adult Education (16+)

We deliver a range of short courses for those aged 16+. With many delivered remotely, gain qualifications and get employability skills (CV support and interview techniques) and support to progress all from the comfort of your own home!

Putting care into developing your career

Whatever you choose, you’ll be supported all the way by our highly-qualified and experienced tutors.

We don’t care what your background is, or if you have a barrier to learning or employment – we want to ensure every young person gets an equal chance to start their career.

Community of young career professionals

Whether you choose to start a career in construction, marketing, health and social care, IT or education – you will join a community of like-minded young learners and a professional community in your chosen occupation.

On completion, many of our apprenticeships offer the option of becoming members of professional bodies.

We speak to a number of guests over the series who talk about some amazing opportunities you can take advantage of, along with providing some hints and tips to help you reach your goals.
