What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding is a term used to cover measures that have been put in place to allow children, young people and adults at risk to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of everyone we work with.

Ixion's Positioning Statement (Safeguarding)

The Ixion Group (Ixion) believes that it is always unacceptable for a learner or worker to experience abuse of any kind and recognises its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all learners and workers by commitment to practice that protects them.

The organisation recognises that:
  • The welfare of the learner and worker is paramount.
  • All learners and workers regardless of age, disability, gender, racial heritage, religious belief or sexual orientation have the right to equal protection from all types of harm or abuse.
    Working in partnership with learners, workers and with other agencies is essential in promoting a safe learning environment.
The purpose of this statement is to:
  • Provide protection for the learners and workers within Ixion.
  • Provide Ixion staff and partners with guidance on procedures they should adopt in the event that they suspect a learner may be experiencing or be at risk of harm.
Ixion will be seen to safeguard all learners and works by:
  • Valuing them, listening to them and respecting them.
  • Adopting safeguarding guidelines through procedures and a code of conduct for staff and partners.
  • Recruiting staff safely and undertake Criminal Record Bureau Enhanced checks.
  • Sharing information about concerns with agencies that need it.
  • Make sure all members of staff are trained in safeguarding.

Ixion operates a zero tolerance policy towards abuse and other harmful behaviour in all of our activities.

This statement applies to all staff and partners.

From this statement a full Safeguarding Policy is in place and will updated annually.
