If you’re out of work and open to opportunities, a free Ixion skills course could help you get closer. 

You’ll get a recognised Level 1 qualification in hospitality or construction, build your confidence, and get practical support with CVs, applications and interviews. You’ll also hear about local job opportunities, and on some courses, get a guaranteed interview with an employer. All our courses have been co-designed with employers from the hospitality and construction industries.

What’s available

Ixion Skills is a free training programme for 19+ year olds.

You’ll be supported by our journey advisers throughout – from helping you find the right course to preparing for what comes next.

You can choose to study either hospitality or construction:

Hospitality

 

  • Level 1 Award in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry
  • Level 1 Introductory Award in Employability Skills

Construction

 

  • Level 1 Award in Building & Construction
  • Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment
  • Level 1 Introductory Award in Employability Skills (includes CSCS card)

How it all works

  • Step 1: Please fill in your details at the bottom of this page using the form.
  • Step 2: A journey adviser will get in touch to discuss the course, suitable options and when to enrol
  • Step 3: You complete the application form and eligibility criteria
  • Step 4: You’ll be enrolled onto the next available course run by an accredited tutor
  • Step 5: Your journey adviser will support you throughout the course
  • Step 6: Once you’ve passed your course, you’ll have an accredited qualification

If your course was run in partnership with a local employer, you’ll have a guaranteed interview at the end. Your journey adviser can also help with any job support you need, like writing your CV or practising for interviews.

Who can join

Your journey adviser can check our courses are right for you. You’ll need to be:

  • Currently living in London
  • Aged 19 or over on 31 August 2026
  • Currently unemployed and receiving either Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit (UC)
  • Have the right to work in the UK and hold valid identification
  • Have not previously completed a qualification that covers the same learning as this course

Ixion Skills is a programme for Londoners aged 19 and over who are looking to develop their skills and progress into sustainable employment within Construction or Hospitality.

This form starts with an eligibility check. You will then be able to submit your details to the team

Ixion is a national training provider. We help people gain skills and qualifications that move them closer to work. We do this by designing courses with employers, reflecting real jobs and the skills needed to do them. We’re also proudly rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.

Our courses take two to three weeks to complete, depending on the subject chosen.

We run both remote and face-to-face courses.

Yes, if your course has been designed with a local employer, you’ll have a guaranteed interview at the end. Depending on your course, you might have the chance to network with employers.

Your journey adviser is there to support you at every stage. They’ll contact you once you’ve filled out our referral form. They’ll be in touch with you regularly to give you guidance and keep things on track.
