Supporting unemployed people and employers in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and surrounding areas
Sector-based work academies are developed in partnership with employers and run in sectors with a current high volume of local vacancies. Introduced by the Government, they ensure people looking for employment have the essential skills to succeed in the workplace.
We’re pleased to be working with Wates Group in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) delivering Sector-based Work Academy Programmes (SWAP) in construction, developing skills for unemployed people in the local community to support regional growth, whilst working closely with local employers and providing real opportunities to sustainably progress. The programmes include gaining Level 1 qualifications, CSCS test and card, virtual tours of Wates sites and developing employability skills to enable progression. Find out more about our level 1 course.
“Wates are proud to be taking part in this programme. Our belief is to give back and provide opportunities for social mobility in the areas in which we work and live. Supporting initiatives like this is vital for the Construction Industry as it provides us with the perfect opportunity to enhance and build on the knowledge of those engaged helping to equip them with the real skills our sector require”.
Stuart Cleworth, Operations Director at Wates Construction Limited – Northern Home Counties
