A pioneering new higher, professional apprenticeship programme is being delivered by Ixion in the West Midlands
Earlier this month a group of 12 learners from Birmingham Metropolitan (BMET) College  began their 24 month journey to achieve their formal careers guidance qualification, part of the Level 6 Career Development Professional Apprenticeship Standard, delivered by Ixion Nationwide.
They will leave the programme with improved knowledge, skills and behaviours, along with the highly sought after and recognised higher qualification in the careers development sector.
What is a career development professional?
Career Development Professionals are typically found in educational settings, training organisations, careers and employment services and human resource/learning and development departments in both the public and the private sector.
The broad purpose of the occupation is to assist individuals and/or organisations before or during career transitions to develop long and short term career strategies. Transitions could include from learning to work, returning to the labour market, returning to learning, sector/organisation/management change, redundancy and pre-retirement choices.
The Level 6 qualification also ensures schools and colleges are meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Careers Guidance and is approved by The Career Development Institute.
