Supporting jobseekers and upskilling staff
We’re pleased to be working with William Hill to deliver a variety of short courses to support the recruitment of skilled staff through our sector-based work academy programmes (SWAPs) and upskilling their teams with formal qualifications in functional skills.
What are SWAPs?
SWAPs offer people looking for work the chance to learn new skills and gain industry experience. They are available to jobseekers claiming Universal Credit, Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).
SWAPs last for up to six weeks and encourage jobseekers to build confidence, enhance their CVs and improve career prospects. They also help employers fill job roles, as each SWAP is linked to at least one job vacancy.
Functional skills
Additionally, Ixion are delivering mathematics functional skills to current William Hill employees. It is important for employees to be supported to gain a qualification in maths due to the cash handling in branches. The functional skills sessions will therefore be available for employees across England.
“It has been fantastic working with Shaw Trust this year. Given the recruitment difficulties companies have faced since Covid, partnering with Shaw Trust to get the right people for William Hill, has worked really well. Thank you for your help and support throughout 2021, we are looking forward to what 2022 brings us.”
Kelly James, Area Manager at William Hill.
“We are delighted to be partnering with William Hill to provide SWAPs across the country. Here at Ixion, part of Shaw Trust, we put care into progressing and developing careers. The partnership with William Hill aligns with our values as SWAPs are specifically designed to help jobseekers into work. We are also looking forward to attending a variety of careers fairs with William Hill, and providing functional skills sessions to help existing William Hill employees boost their maths skills.”
