Niamh McCafferty is working towards her apprenticeship in Digital Marketing, so we caught up with her to ask about her learner journey, what she has gained from her role personally and professionally – and find out why she chose a cheetah to represent her learning experience!
I am the Online Sales and Marketing Administrator at Unlock EMEA.
I studied Beauty Therapy at a local college.
My Dad’s company was looking for an apprentice in digital marketing.
Some of my friends did apprenticeships but I wasn’t aware of what was involved.
The most challenging thing has been applying marketing theory to Unlock EMEA. We do not sell products we sell services, and this makes it a little tricky.
The most interesting thing has been using the learning from my apprenticeship to help improve our social media.
Learning about digital marketing helps improve our marketing results.
What impact do you think it will have on your career?
Once I have my apprenticeship qualification, I would hope that this makes me a more appealing prospect to other employers. The work that I have done for Unlock EMEA remains online, and I can show this to demonstrate my experience.
I do regular calls with my tutor Veronique and this helps me complete my assignments. We have a small team of colleagues who are all friendly and helpful.
Yes, I really enjoy being able to combine work and training. I can perform tasks that are useful to the business while improving my own knowledge of digital marketing.
Fun, stretching, analytics, rewarding, progression.
Friendly, supportive, knowledgeable, kind, experienced.
I would describe my learner journey as a cheetah – sometimes the pace of my learning is very fast like a cheetah hunting its prey other times the pace is steadier like a cheetah stalking its prey.
I would choose Happy by Pharrell Williams because it’s upbeat, fast pace and fun.
