Aimee is a Marketing Manager and recently completed her Level 3 Digital Marketing apprentice, increasing her skill set – and gaining a distinction!
Discover how she was supported, what she found the most challenging and why she chose a caterpillar to represent her learner journey!
“My apprenticeship has given me more confidence using a wide range of digital tools, and also being able to prioritise what’s important, and having my skill set that has grown.”
I’m the Marketing Manager for Tiptree Tea Rooms and I look after the main Tiptree website as well. I look at social media platforms and answer the queries, we get a lot of requests for sponsorship and advertising, so I deal with them also.
I undertook the Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, as I had a basic knowledge of digital platforms but it was good to learn why we do what we do, and not just doing it because you are told you have do it. I also wanted to learn new techniques and see if there was anything that would make me work more efficiently.
My apprenticeship has given me more confidence using a wide range of digital tools, and also being able to prioritise what’s important, and having my skill set that has grown.
I enjoyed learning about coding, it was the most challenging part of the apprenticeship but a lot of the terms I had come across before, and now I am fully confident I know what they mean.
I enjoyed at the end when we had to put together a campaign for the end point assessment so I launched a new fictional tea room – it was great to be able to put my skills together on paper. This was done over five-days in exam conditions. Having launched tea rooms in the past it was good to use new techniques that I had learnt which I think will make it much easier in the future.
I got a distinction, and I felt mostly relived as it was what I was aiming for, but I was worried that with the demands of my day job I might not get it – but with support of my Teaching Assessor Veronique I did!
Veronique was really supportive, I could contact her whenever I needed to and she would answer quickly. She would also support me as I wouldn’t always prioritise the apprenticeship but she would push me across the line to do with the work and not leave it.
My company also allowed me to have the hours I needed to do the apprenticeship, and my line manager did a couple of personal references which helped me to achieve the grade that I did.
I would definitely recommend the apprenticeship. Before, I didn’t know much about them, I thought they were for more practical roles, I didn’t realise you could do them in this style or subject, and that you aren’t taken out of your workplace to learn which means you can use the skills straight away and not just at the end of the course.
I would love to be more senior in my role, but it’s more just being able to manage the digital side of things for the company. It’s doing things more efficiently and knowing about the different tools I can use.
Informative, interesting, challenging (at times), satisfying and worthwhile.
Supportive, caring – she always asked about my wellbeing, also fun and enthusiastic!
Maybe a caterpillar, as you start off small with a little knowledge and then you flourish at the end into a butterfly with a wealth of knowledge that enables you to spread your wings!
I think it has to be Celebration by Kool and the Gang because of my distinction!
