Highlighting the care and quality that we put into developing and progressing careers

Feedback from the learners and employers that we work with

Our learners and project participants are at the heart of what we do, regardless of their barriers to learning, employment status or background. We put care into developing and progressing careers to ensure every individual reaches their potential, and it’s great to see such positive feedback for our dedicated staff and the courses and qualifications they deliver.

“I would just like to send a thank you about Steven Vasiliou.

Ever since I took over my role at Cephas, Steven has been really helpful in explaining the Levy and how we can get the best out of it.

He is always very quick to contact me if we have any issues with anything, and works hard to resolve the issues.

Just thought it was nice to actually say thank you for all his hard work.”

Shaun Draper, Training Manager, Cephas Alpha Group

“My life is so different now – I am a mum of a little boy and I have been clean for 15 months. Andrea understood that when I was struggling to leave me alone. Then I could call when I needed it.

I’m now ready to go into training to be a support worker and this is all down to the job that Andrea has done. I haven’t found employment yet but the training I’m currently doing will help me gain employment.”

Demi, Connecting Choices participant, Stoke

“I really am enjoying my time on the training so far, the preparations for the guided discussions have enabled me to think more deeply about what I do within my job role, how well I am working and how I can improve what I do to benefit myself, the team and my participants. The Cognassists have also been helpful for work and external charity work that I do, and have been useful for learning tools improvements in the way I do things.” (Tutor – Maria Seal)

Caroline, Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship

“From start to finish, I cannot fault my apprenticeship experience with Ixion. Gaining a distinction was the best feeling, hard work truly does pay off. The support I received throughout was really great and my assessor, Suzanne Marfleet, was a fountain of knowledge and so supportive. She was fantastic at guiding me through it all, even when Covid-19 meant that we could only meet online. I’m so happy with the whole experience and would do it again in a heartbeat.”

Nicola, Distinction level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship

“I am very pleased with the level of support being afforded to me by Iain Branch. There has been a lot of changes in my circumstances as I have recently been promoted to Chief of Staff within the Shaw Trust Group. This has meant that I have been in the midst of handovers and had a heavy workload. Iain has supported me with ways that I can continue to move forward with my qualification as well as not burn out. He has been understanding and worked with me at the pace and with the distance I require.

I am looking forward to completing my project management units over the coming weeks and tidying up all other loose ends in terms of unit completion.

Today’s session was particularly helpful in getting me back on track with a clear plan.”

Renata, Level 5 Apprenticeship Operations/Departmental Manager

“I wanted a course to help enhance my confidence when it came to communicating new ideas, coaching new staff members, running meetings and learning about how best to lead a team of people. The Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship was perfect for all those topics, plus an insight into areas such as finance, operational strategies and working with stake holders, none of which I have had experience with so found tricky at first, but was pleased to have learnt it.

I got to do this course alongside my current job role. It has improved my confidence as a person and will be a flexible tool to move on to a different career path or job role if needed. My assessors Michelle Wilsdon and Graeme Streets were really helpful and friendly and we would meet regularly to set work, discuss topics or observe work practice. They were really easy to get hold off, particularly through email if I ever had any questions.

I’m really pleased to have completed the course and use the knowledge to go further.”

Charlotte, Distinction in Level 3 Apprenticeship Team Leader/Supervisor

“The project has been brilliant and my adviser is lovely, my confidence applying for jobs has increased. My adviser has always been there for me.”

Rebecca Wood, Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology

“Since the start of the lockdown my tutor Kim Chambers has gone above and beyond to ensure my apprenticeship coursework has been kept up to date and made it her priority to get me ready for my EPA. Kim has been in contact with me on a weekly basis throughout the lockdown and has made it her mission to have a remote call once a week with me, not only to go through my coursework but to also see how I am coping at home and to have general chats. Thank you Kim for your support and care during lockdown! I am now EPA ready!”

Lillie Tempest-Routledge, Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship

Sean Harland has been working with us for some time now and was instrumental in guiding employees through their NVQ qualifications and was key to the success of the Legacy Project. Sean has a skill of integrating with our employees at all levels and encouraging them to succeed by putting them at ease as some of these employees have not been exposed to the education system for some time.”

They  have all commented very positively about the approach you have taken as a delivery team to ensure this is truly a learner led programme, managed by yourselves with the appropriate level of support and guidance for level 6 learners.”

Alaco Millard, Operations Director, BMET University, West Midlands

“The course was not what I expected, but better as I wasn’t treated like I was at school and like an adult – and the work was more what I understood and what I needed to move into work or progress.I have grown more confident in speaking to people, I have enjoyed doing the work about behaviour at work I have got more skills in communication and more work skills. Naz has really helped.”

Kim also promoted a friendly and welcoming environment where each individual felt safe and secure.”

Tracey, Diploma in Make-up Artistry, South West

“I was a stay at home mum and hadn’t worked for 20 years. I was very socially isolated and a victim of domestic violence for many years. No confidence. To have a better life and earn my own money … have faith in myself. I wouldn’t of done it without Andrea’s help. Amazing, wonderful lady and I will miss her. Felt like I was listened to at all times and it was all based on my individual needs – a massive thank you.” Jeanette, Participant on Connecting Choices

“I feel that the service was very good from start to finish. Laura, Stella, and Ricardo were all lovely and very helpful. I think the cause was made even better by our tutor Ricardo Johnson. You could tell that he has a genuine passion for the subject and this became infectious in the class. His teaching style made the course great fun and really enjoyable, I loved it!”

Terence, Diploma in Massage Therapy, North East

Iain Branch (tutor) is a breath of fresh air. We have some very intellectual conversations and I enjoy sharing my interpretation of subjects with him, and hearing his too. Iain is very positive with me and always praises the quality of my work, which I find very motivational. He is critical of what I write, which is very useful, but his criticism is always very constructive. I have made significant progress under Iain’s tutorship. My knowledge of Operational Management and the theory of this has improved immensely and I have enjoyed putting my learning in to practice in my day to day role.

Iain always attends our meetings, always takes the time to carefully read and review everything I submit and is flexible with the direction I want to head in at all times. Iain is a very supportive, knowledgeable and attentive assessor and my expedited progress towards completion has been very much influenced by his willingness to support and stretch me.”

“Hello Naz, I just want to say a massive thank you on helping me get to where I am now in my new job – you have really taught me how to gain my confidence and to step out of my comfort zone to try and apply for new things I’ve enjoyed every moment that I had with Ixion and learned so many things while I was there , so much time and guidance went into helping me find my job and I wouldn’t of known what I would do if it wasn’t for all the help you gave me so thank you.” Zoe Symes, Traineeship with work skills, North East

My children have seen this in me too, it has given me the push I needed to achieve other things I have set myself to accomplish.
