The free programme can support you to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track you to an interview with an employer, helping you to get a better job.

The Skills Bootcamp currently supports people in the London Boroughs of Ealing, Fulham, Hammersmith and Hounslow.

About our Skills Bootcamp

Our Skills Bootcamp in construction offers two programmes to gain the level 3 Award in ILM Leadership and Management Practice for the Construction and Built Environment Sector:

  • A four-week, full-time programme for unemployed people.
  • A 12-week, part-time programme for employed/self-employed people.
The programme offers you a guaranteed interview on completion to support you get a better job.
 
 

For employers

Our level 3 Award in ILM Leadership and Management Practice can also support employers to upskill or grow their team.

Benefits for employers includes:

  • Ensure best practice in people and site management.
  • Safer and more efficient use of physical, fiscal and human resources.
  • Managers with proven application of skills for tenders and major contracts.
  • Staff who meet the technical and competence needs of programmes and projects.

Skills Bootcamps are free, flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer.

They are part of the Government’s Skills for Life campaign that enable people aged 19+ to change sectors or progress in their current industry, and could be the next step to a better job.

A Skills Bootcamp could be for you if you are:

  • looking to progress in your current sector.
  • looking to change jobs or explore a new industry.
  • currently employed or self-employed.
  • recently unemployed.

At the end of the programme you will leave with:

  • Level 3 Certificate in ILM Leadership and Management Practice for the Construction and Built Environment Sector.
  • CSCS card.
  • Equip you with technical skills that will enable you to access in-demand jobs, apprenticeships, new opportunities and an increased level of income over time (including for the self-employed).
  • Completing the Skills Bootcamp in construction leads to a guaranteed interview with a local employer, helping you to get a better job.
  • Gain a nationally-recognised qualification that will support you to progress.
  • Gain your CSCS card so you can access any construction site in the UK.
  • Learning delivered by a ‘Grade 1’ Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ training provider.

No previous knowledge in the subject is needed – you just need a good grasp of the English language and the willingness to learn new skills.

To be able to undertake the Skills Bootcamp, you must be:

  • Aged 19 years + 
  • Live in Hounslow, …
  • legal resident of the UK.
  • You must not have attended another Skills Bootcamp since August 2022.
