“The values of the organisation aligned with my goals and ambitions for the future.”

What were you doing before you joined Ixion?

Before I joined the Connecting Choices team I was working as an apprentice mechanic for a bus company. I wanted to change career path as I did not feel I was making a difference to society and heard from friends and family about how Shaw Trust transforms peoples lives. The values of the organisation aligned with my goals and ambitions for the future.

Tell us about your role!

As a Field Claims Officer for the Connecting Choices programme I support the partner organisations with claiming expenses every month and carry out checks to ensure the right documentation has been sent. Every quarter I have to submit the final document for eight partners including Ixion to the National Lottery Community fund.

What motivates and inspires you in your work?

I am a self-motivated individual and knowing its for a greater cause spurs me on. Working with the different partner organisations I feel they are appreciative of the work I do and can see how the programme impacts participants. I enjoy working as part of the team!

What are five words that describe your time at Ixion?

Enjoyable, valuable, fun, hard-work, inspirational.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to do jujitsu, listen to music and I help out friends and family where I can to fix problems with their cars.

What is your favourite animal?

I am not an animal lover but if I had to choose it would be a dog as my girlfriends’ parents have two which I have become very fond of.

What would the name of your debut album be?

Long way home – The journey I have come on feels like a long way to go back where I started.

If we finished this call and you stepped outside and found a jackpot-winning lottery ticket, what would you do and why?

I would stay in work initially but would consider reducing my hours as I would like to buy a yacht and private jet so I can travel the world.
