The next fully funded Wates/Ixion Sector Based Work Academy starts this May in Hackney.
The Wates “Building Futures” opportunity is available to 19+ Job Seekers who are residents of the Borough of Hackney. No previous experience or knowledge of the construction sector is required although candidates must show an enthusiasm and positive attitude towards pursuing a career in construction. We have 15 places available.
Learners will gain basic skills across a range of areas within construction e.g. carpentry, painting/decorating, electrics and joinery. They will gain the BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Construction, the Health and Safety in the Environment Award Level 1 and also their Green CSCS card – all funded by Ixion and Wates. Beyond the programme there is also a progression opportunity for learners to access up to £2,000 of specialist training depending on the trade route they wish to pursue. This is funded by Hackney Council.
The programme will take place at:
Summit Community Hall,
Learners will be required to attend from 9am – 5pm from Tuesday 31st May – Friday 17th June (14 days). Week one and two will be focused on gaining practical skills in a workshop environment.
