Ixion is delivering access to volunteer business mentors as part of the New Enterprise Allowance Contract, providing guidance and support to unemployed people who want to start their own business.
Ixion has been awarded the contracts in three key areas:
- Essex
- East Anglia
- South London
The Government is providing extra support through the New Enterprise Allowance (NEA), which is available to Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) customers who have been claiming for 26-weeks or more to offer help as they develop their business plan and through the early months of trading.

They will be able to access financial support. This will consist of:
- A weekly allowance worth £1,274 over 26 weeks, paid at £65 a week for the first 13 weeks and £33 a week for a further 13 weeks, and
- The facility to access a loan of up to £1,000 to help with start-up costs, subject to status.
The total package of support could be worth up to £2,274 to each participant who starts their own business.
As part of the delivery, Ixion is providing dedicated Business Advisors that can support individuals as they complete their business plan and commence trading, in addition to access to Volunteer Mentors through The Mentor Hive, an online portal that enables our customers to search for a mentor to provide a variety of help across four key areas of Enterprise, Employment, Skills and Well Being.
Developing Your Enterprise
Customers also have access to our new training course ‘Developing Your Enterprise’ which is fully funded for JCP referrals and NEA customers and provides access to a workshop that will help them complete their Business Plan.
